How to Stripe A Parking Lot

Designing a Parking Lot: Markings:

 If you have a new parking lot this has become complicated. Optimizing your parking lot to make sure that traffic flows are safe and parking spaces are maximized has always been tricky.  Increasing Federal, State and municipal requirements are many and variable. This includes having the appropriate Accessible spaces for  Liability insurance requirements are also important to consider.  We recommend hiring a local professional to insure that your lot is safe.

The majority of striping jobs are for existing lots. Please be cognizant of new marking requirements for Accessible parking, and in some locations electric vehicle parking spaces.  Your local government office can provide the requirements.

Relining an Existing Parking Lot:

 If the existing lines need to be repainted, a little foresight will insure best results.

1. Ensure that you know exactly where the existing marks are we recommend a detailed sketch which is reviewed and accepted by the customer.
1. Take photos of the existing parking lot from multiple angles.
2.  Count the number of spaces and note length and width of the spaces, especially special spaces.
3. Measure location of all handicap and special areas.
2. Calculate and prepare the amount of paint. Note the white, yellow, and if necessary red and blue traffic paint.
3. Have proper measuring and marking equipment.  Have a long tape measure, long chalk line, a square, chalk, painters tape and bricks or weights.
4. Check that you have necessary stencils, if necessary clean or unroll them.
5. Prepare and clean spray equipment.  Check the nozzle ( a warn nozzle can use 25% more paint than a new nozzle.)
6. Start the lot by doing the parking space lines first.
