Four Square Playground Stencil

Introducing our Four Square Playground Stencil—an essential tool for creating fun and engaging outdoor play areas in schools, day cares, and homes. Available in two sizes, this durable playground stencil allows you to easily paint a classic four-square court on any paved surface.

Product Features:

The small stencil (8' x 8') comes on 18 sheets of 60 mil Mylar and fits together seamlessly, while the large stencil (16' x 16') also ships on 18 sheets for easy assembly. Simply follow the provided diagram to assemble, position, and mark the stencil using spray marking paint or a foam roller. For secure application, consider using painter's tape to hold the seams in place, especially on windy days.

Most paints and stains work well with our stencil, but we recommend consulting with your local hardware store for the best options suited for your surface. For added customization, consider marking each square with our number stencil sets—12 inches is recommended for optimal visibility!

This kit ships with detailed instructions, and a layout guide with Four Square Court drawing specifications (also available as a PDF below).

Note: The squares can be optionally marked with one of our number stencil sets. We suggest using at least a 12 inch number set as the size of each square us 48 inches x 48 inches.

Standard Four-Square play area measures 16' x 16' (8' x 8' for preschool) when painted out. Each square is 8' x 8' (or 4' x 4').

Four Square Stencil Material

All of our stencils are made from LLDPE plastic. This material is extremely durable, will relax and lay flat quickly, and is very easy to clean. The 1/8^th inch is preferred by contractors and is more rigid then the 1/16^th inch. The 1/16^th is excellent for less frequent use. Both can be used and cleaned hundreds of times, making this a cost-effective solution for playgrounds.

How to Use the Four Square Stencil

1. Assemble the stencil pieces according the instructions and diagram. 
   
2. Position the stencil and secure with painters tape.
3. Use a spray paint or foam roller (or chalk) to stencil. Apply paint in multiple thin, even layers to prevent paint bleed under the stencil.
4. Carefully remove the stencil and clean with soap and water or paint remover and store for future reuse. 
   

How to Play Four Square:

Four Square is a classic playground game involving four players, each occupying one of four squares. The objective is to eliminate the player in the 'King' position by successfully serving the ball into one of the other squares.

Basic Game Rules:

• Each player serves the ball from their square into one of the other squares. 
  
• Players must hit the ball before it bounces twice.
• Players exit the game if they miss the ball or hit it out of bounds.
• The waiting player enters the game and rotates positions accordingly.

1/8th inch (125 mil) LLDPE: Our Contractor Grade material makes a durable, reusable, precision stencil that can be used hundreds of times. Lays Flat and is heavy enough to be used with professional spray equipment.

1/16th inch (60 mil) LLDPE:  Our Standard Duty material has all the qualities of our Contractor Grade at half the weight. The lighter weight and lower price point is a great option for the non-professional. Can be used dozens of times and can be cleaned and stored for future maintenance.
