Difficult to use and ineffective
Hi Susan,
I am sorry that you did have a successful trial with the gyro-cut. It is a tricky device to get the hang of. I wish I could have the chance to show you how to use the tool. I have tought many people how to use it, Most did not get it the first try but after a few minutes almost all were able to use it effectively. I have taught many people and we have sold literally thousands of these tools in the USA and only about 1 percent of people have issues. But i will absolutely agree that the first time that you use it can be tricky and to get the hang of it you need to start out correctly.
So given that it is trcky to use i recommend that you consult our videos, on our product page or on the internet as there are quite a few. Also there are a few key points to success,
1. use a cutting mat underneath whatever you are cutting, i have used it on a cutting board but a mat really helps with the process,
2. Make sure the whatever you are cutting does not move. Holding with your hand is not very effective. The paper or film needs to be steady on the mat or else it will move and not cut. I use a repositionable spray adhesive on my cutting mat that will keep any film or paper from moving. You can also use tape ( on all four sides of the paper)
3. hold the gyro cut so that the blade is straight up and down. Alot of people are used to holding a pencil at an angle ( i was tuaght this in school back in the day when they taught penmanship, this will stop the blade from rotating freely) Putting your fingers on the finger holds and holding the handle as shown in the video will make keeping the blade vertical easy.
4. finally apply an even and firm pressure. paper does not require much pressure, mylar films and card stock will require more.
If after trying, you feel that that it is not a solution for you we will accept a return Just send us the Gyro Cut back and we will refund you,
We struggle staying in stock and we use returns to give to influencers who promote the product,
Also please feel to email or call us we would be happy to talk this through with you
Regards
Jim
i was told i needed adhesive spray to make it work given the size. I ordered your adhesive spray and it was left out of the shipment. The order arrived the day before it was needed (only after i sent multiple emails wondering about the order given it never shipped, until i emailed) Once i realized there was no spray, i had to go buy some. I was told Michaels had your spray. They didn't (more time wasted) so i purchased what they had. The final result looked like a 3rd grader coloring on a sidewalk at recess.
